The biggest meeting of clinical oncology professionals in Croatia, the Croatian Oncology Congress, was held for the 12th time, in Poreč, 4-7 April 2019. The 12th Croatian Oncology Congress was the most successful so far with almost 400 participants, over 60 abstracts delivered and 31 exhibitors.

Nowhere in medicine is the need for teamwork as great as it is in oncology. Clinical, internal, experimental and surgical oncology, along with radiologists, urologists, pathologists, cytologists and epidemiologists, and palliative care experts have an equally valued position in the team. The same principle was applied when putting this congress together. In the name of caring for oncology patients and society as a whole, everyone abandoned their hierarchical thinking to facilitate this demanding collaboration. Working together always gives the best results.

The desire of the organizers of the congress was to provide opportunities for all participants, and to encourage young Croatian oncologists of different disciplines to participate actively and thus gain much needed experience, in order to become leaders of Croatian oncology, and thanks to a quality transition bring a better oncological future for all.
